The district is shifting to online learning for all Penn Manor High School students, effective Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12. All co-curricular activities are cancelled until at least the middle of the week. The high school building is closed to students and staff. 

Over the weekend, we learned that two individuals in our Penn Manor High School community have tested positive for COVID-19, with the most recent notification received on Saturday, March 6.  The new cases and resulting quarantines have impacted the district’s ability to staff critical operations for the high school. The decision to shift to online learning is being made in response to the recommended framework from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for actions necessary following the identification of active COVID-19 cases.

No schedule changes are planned for any other Penn Manor schools at this time.

We have notified the Pennsylvania Department of Health and our contacts at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. The individuals who may have been in close contact with the persons who tested positive have been notified and instructed to quarantine, following Department of Health guidelines. All contact tracing and notifications have been completed.

During this time, high school students and faculty will follow the Full Remote Schedule that can be found here. Classes will begin at 7:40 a.m.  Students will receive daily live, video instruction on these days. Students will sign in to the Google Meet provided by their teacher through Google Classroom and follow the teachers’ expectations for the class.  Students are to be prepared for learning, have all class materials, work in a space that is free from distractions, and be actively participating during the class

Full-day CTC students will continue to report to the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (CTC). Transportation will be provided from Penn Manor High School in the morning and return to the high school in the afternoon. Half-day CTC students may report to the CTC during this time, while also participating in their Penn Manor classes. A shuttle bus will transport students to and from the high school. Students will need to be at the cafeteria entrance by 10:45 am. Half-day CTC students will need to provide their own transportation to and from the high school.

Regular, in-person classes for high school students will resume on Monday, March 15, unless the school district learns of additional information that would require an extension of the closure to assure the safety of the high school community. We encourage you to monitor the district website for updates regarding this situation. All families and faculty will receive a follow-up email from principal Baron Jones regarding expectations for online learning.

During the closure, we expect students to act responsibly by practicing social distancing, wearing masks in public and monitoring their health. If you or a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19, please contact the high school nurse at 717-872-9520, ext. 1356, so we can identify any other individuals who may have been in close contact in the school setting. As a community, we all need to do our part to assure that in-person learning can safely resume for Penn Manor students.
