TeenHope program – Feedback Requested

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Penn Manor partners with Samaritan Counseling Center to offer voluntary emotional wellness screenings to ninth-graders through the TeenHope program.
Samaritan would like to improve its screening process by surveying parents and students about their views on mental health and treatment. Below are instructions from TeenHope and a link to the surveys:
Your children’s emotional and physical health is a key factor in how well they function in school and relate with others. It would help us improve our emotional wellness screening program if you and your child(ren) who attend middle school or high school complete this voluntary and anonymous survey. The survey has 18 questions and should take about 5 minutes to complete. You will need to create an ID to participate.
Please forward and/or share the link and the ID number you create with your child(ren) so they also can take the survey. This will allow us to pair your survey results while keeping them anonymous. After you share the ID, you will no longer need to remember it.
The deadline for completing the survey is Monday, April 23.

Movement for Safe Schools – March 14
Approximately 600 students participated in the Movement for Safe Schools on March 14. Students came to the high school cafeteria at 10:00 a.m. to make a statement for safer schools and remember those who died in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida on February 14.
This student-led movement provided students with the opportunity to:
- Obtain contact information of the federal and state legislators from our area and a sample letter of what could be sent to the legislators encouraging them to take action to make schools safer.
- Sign a pledge card to commit to making Penn Manor High School a safer school.
- Meet and interact with other students
- Read a biography of each of the individuals who were killed in the Parkland, Florida shooting.
To end the movement, the names of each of the victims of the school shooting were read and a moment of silence was held to honor these individuals.

School Safety Update
https://www.pennmanor.net/blog/2018/02/23/school-safety-update/
