Manor FFA Visits 3rd Grade Students for Ag in the Classroom
On Monday the 17th and Tuesday the 18th of November, Manor FFA students went to the Penn Manor School District elementary schools to teach third grade students about sheep; one agriculture topic in their Ag in the classroom presentations . On Monday, members went to LeTort, Central Manor, Eshleman, and Hambright. On Tuesday, they went to Martic, Pequea and Conestoga. Members in attendance were Neve Consylman, Kayla McLain, Tori Rittenhouse, Joey Murgas, Shayla Riley, Emily Alexander, Katelyn Campion and their FFA advisor Ms. Slates. When they went to the schools, they taught the kids many different facts about sheep. The elementary kids are currently studying various topics in agriculture and we were happy to contribute with it! Members taught the students about breeds of sheep, equipment needed for proper care, sheep products, and how to show for the fair. Kayla talked about FFA, official dress, and ag classes. After everyone was done talking, they had the kids pet and look at Manor FFA advisor Mrs. Cornman’s sheep named Moonlight. After the kids saw the sheep, they went back inside and glued a cotton ball to a sheep that would be filled up by the end of the second day of being at the elementary schools. Overall the Manor FFA students enjoyed seeing the third grade students become excited about agriculture!
