New Student Orientation – August 5th

Orientation for new students is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5 at 9:00 AM or 6:30 PM. The orientation will begin in the high school auditorium with a brief introductory session. Attendees will then take part in additional sessions where academic expectations, general guidelines and counseling services will be discussed. After the sessions, attendees will be able to tour the building to locate their classrooms.  Be sure to bring your schedules with you to orientation.

1:1 Laptop Distribution

Laptop distribution for the 2014 -15 school year will begin on August 7 and continue through the first week of school.  Any sophomore, junior, or senior may obtain his or her laptop on August 7 and 12 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the high school library.  Those who do not obtain their laptop on those days will be scheduled to pick up their laptop on Wednesday, August 27 or Thursday, August 28 during the school day.

Incoming freshmen will be scheduled to obtain their laptop on August 26 during the school day.  In order to obtain a laptop, students and parents must sign the 1:1 laptop agreement.  The laptop agreement will be mailed home to all freshmen or can be accessed on the district Technology blog.

SAT/ACT Camp and Tutoring Services

The Manheim Township Educational Foundation is offering your student two options to help them prepare for their future. First is a Summer Mini-Boot Camp to introduce them to the SAT. Plus, they are again offering SAT/ACT tutoring services through Power Forward Tutoring.

Yearbook Supplements for the Class of 2014

Those members of the Class of 2014 who ordered a yearbook may stop by the high school office to pick up the Spring Supplement that accompanies the 2013-14 yearbook.

The high school office is open 7:15 to 4:45 Monday through Thursday during the month of July and 7:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday during the month of August.

Student Schedules for the 2014 – 2015 School Year

Student schedules for the 2014-2015 school year will be mailed home at the end of July.  Changes to student schedules will be made ONLY on August 6 and August 12 from 8 am until 2pm at the PMHS Counseling Office.

To make a schedule change, you must meet with a counselor on one of the days listed.  No changes will be made after this time period ends.  Depending on the number of students who are requesting changes to their schedule, there may be a wait to see a counselor.

The following parameters must be met in order for a scheduling change to occur:
* Students must have a valid educational reason for the schedule change,
* There must be an open seat available for the student in the new course,
* Counselors and administrators must approve the change.

Application for a Work Permit

Any student within the ages of fourteen and eighteen years of age who wishes to obtain employment must first acquire working papers.  This application may be printed, signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the high school main office by the student along with documentation showing proof of age (birth certificate, passport, or driver’s license).  The student will be required to sign the working card before the issuing officer at that time.

Starting the week of June 23rd, the high school office will be open Monday through Thursday from 7am to 5pm.

Modern Eyes Optical Eyewear Event

ModernEyes Optical will be holding an eyewear event between 3 and 6 pm at the High School on August 18th.  The event will be open to PMSD staff, families, students and community.

What do we get?  10% of all eyeglass sales will be donated back to the Penn Manor Family Fund!
What else do we get?  For every two pairs of glasses purchased, the district will receive a voucher for a needy student to get a complete FREE pair of stylish eyewear!

Yearbook and 2015 Senior Portrait Information

CLASS OF 2015 PARENTS keep a look out for postcards from Lifetouch which will have your senior’s appointment dates/times for senior portraits.

All senior portraits for the yearbook must be taken by Lifetouch to appear in the yearbook. These are free but prints may be ordered through Lifetouch as well. Retakes will take place at the start of the 2014-2015 school year. All photos will be taken in the high school band room. Please call 1-800-445-1189 to request a change to your appointment.

Final dates for portraits are July 28th, July 29th, and September 3rd.

2014 spring supplements will be available for pickup at the high school by seniors (class of 2014) starting in mid May. These will not be mailed out!

Underclassmen will get their copies in homeroom in the first few weeks of the 2014-15 school year. If you ordered a yearbook, you get a spring supplement.
