Free Tax Preparation

Don’t pay to have you taxes done if you don’t have to! As the tax season approaches, one concern on the minds of many is the cost associated with tax preparation.  United Way of Lancaster County’s local Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) program offers free tax preparation opportunities to households in Lancaster County that make $50,000, or less, annually. No strings attached.

Public Input Sought on Superintendent

Members of the Penn Manor community are being asked for input on the performance of superintendent Mike Leichliter so that he and the school board may assess the superintendent’s strengths and needs to improve his performance in future years.

The online survey is available on the district website via the Survey Monkey tool, which is easy to use and includes an open-response area where community members may share their opinions directly with the superintendent and Penn Manor School Board. All nine board members will review the comments and summary scores.

Even those who do not feel they have had enough interaction with the superintendent to fully evaluate his performance are urged to take this opportunity to share their overall impressions of Penn Manor School District.

Parents’ Night – January 30th

Dear Parents:
Thursday, January 30, is our Spring Parents’ Night at the high school. Parents’ Night will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium. The administrative team at the high school will share our goal of preparing our students for life after high school and how our activities throughout the year will assist students in meeting this goal. Following the introductory session in the auditorium, you will then proceed through your child’s spring semester schedule and have the opportunity to hear from each teacher about his or her expectations for the class in which your child is enrolled.
Throughout the night, Charlie Reisinger, technology director, will be in the library to share information about the 1:1 laptop program we are implementing and the process parents use to obtain a Sapphire account to view students’ grades and attendance information. A representative from the Career and Technology Centers will be available in the counseling office to answer your questions about CTC programs.
You are encouraged to attend this program, which will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers. Your son or daughter has been asked to complete the schedule below to assist you in finding classrooms and teachers. Please bring this with you to Parents’ Night. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014. If you should have any questions, please contact the high school office at 872-9520, ext. 1809.

One to One Laptop Program

Students will begin to receive laptops as part of the 1:1 laptop program between January 27 and January 30.  Seniors will receive theirs on Monday, followed by juniors on Tuesday, sophomores on Wednesday and freshmen on Thursday.  Students must have turned in a signed Laptop Agreement form to receive a laptop.
