Healthy Communities Crisis Meals for the Penn Manor Community

Announcing more great things happening in our community. We’re excited to announce a new partnership with an awesome group of people. CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health along with the Steinman Foundation are working together to support residents and families of the Penn Manor School District during this time of great need throughout our community.

Starting on February 16, they will begin sharing meals with the Penn Manor Community. Pick up will be at the Pequea Township Police Department, 53 Marticville Rd. Lancaster PA 17603 with the first pick up being Tuesday 2/16 beginning at 10:30. Pick ups will continue every 5 days after that.

As a part of the Healthy Communities Crisis Meals – Penn Manor Edition – Each household member will receive 5 healthy dinners, fresh fruit and snacks. This is available to all families in the Penn Manor community, there are no income requirements, nor is there a need to pre-register to participate. The team from CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health will have 200 meal sets to share that morning.

We are excited to help in this venture to support our community during this time. Questions should be directed to CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health – 717-397-7625, https://stjosephchildrenshealth.org/

All future snow days will be virtual instructional days

Due to the cancelation of school on December 17 and February 1 and 2, all scheduled weather make-up days for the 2020-2021 school year have been exhausted.

As a result, any additional weather-related school closures will be virtual instructional days (also known as “cyber snow days”) which have been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Teachers will post assignments to their Google Classroom, Moodle or SeeSaw pages for students to access on these days. Students will receive thorough instructions and a description of expectations for what they are to complete during the virtual snow day.

Secondary teachers will post assignments by 8 a.m., and elementary teachers will post assignments by 9:30 a.m.

Students are expected to submit completed assignments by midnight of the virtual snow day.  Student attendance will be based on the submission of assignments.

Teachers will schedule two office hours during which they will be available to students for questions and/or instruction — one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon within the school day.

As a result of the school closures so far this winter, the previous snow make-up days of March 19, April 1 and April 5 are now regular instructional days.

Course Selection Kickoff Week February 1-5

This week is Course Selection Kickoff Week. This year, the event will be entirely virtual.

  • All videos and materials, including parent letter with timeline, this year’s Course Selection Guide, and course request worksheets by grade, can be found under the “Course Selection for the 2021-22 SY” tab.
  • Each department has created short videos to inform and assist students and their families with course selection.

Starting on Monday February 22, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will begin to request courses for the 2021-22 school year using their Sapphire Community Portal accounts.

  • Students and their families should review and utilize the course selection videos and materials before requesting courses for next year.
  • Students will need to know their Sapphire username, password, and pin to access their accounts.
  • If students cannot access their accounts, please contact the main office.

If you have any questions or concerns about course selection, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s counselor by email.

PMHS’s Spring Virtual Back to School Night

Good evening!  Welcome to Penn Manor High School’s spring virtual “Back to School Night.” The faculty members at PMHS have created individual videos to provide parents with an overview of high school course requirements and expectations for the second semester.  If a parent wants to schedule a virtual meeting with a teacher, please email the teacher directly to schedule a follow-up appointment.  Teacher email addresses and their classroom video(s) can be found by clicking the “Teacher Video Clips” link found later in this email.  If you have additional questions, please contact Mr. Jones at baron.jones@pennmanor.net.
