Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Penn Manor High School’s goal is to prepare students for life after high school. As the 2010-2011 school year approaches, we are provided with an opportunity to prepare our students academically and with the skills that will be needed in the future. Because of the quality teachers, the supportive parents and community of the Penn Manor School District, our students will be prepared for their future when we all fulfill our role in the education process.

Since our world is experiencing significant change it is ever more important that we all take a part in ensuring that our students are best prepared for the future. Students are encouraged to take challenging and beneficial classes. With the varied offerings that Penn Manor High School offers, students need to take the highest level of classes that they are eligible for and classes that are relevant to their career interests. Parents are asked to be supportive of their child and help them meet the demands of this year. We as educators will need to examine our curriculum, investigate ways of incorporating technology into the classroom, and be cognizant of what our world is requiring of our students.

For each of us, our future is somewhat uncertain but will be full of new challenges. I hope that each of you will embrace the challenges the new school year brings and strive to be successful in your role as we prepare students for their future.

Sincerely,

Philip B. Gale

Principal

Student Schedules

Student schedules were mailed out the last week of July. The schedule contains information regarding the student’s eight classes (class name, the block each class meets, teacher, and room number) homeroom, counselor, and fall semester lunch. Students will be provided with a copy of the schedule on the first day of school in homeroom.

Our counselors work a limited schedule during the summer, but they have been working hard to resolve schedule change requests that have been received on the days they are in. If you contacted a counselor requesting a schedule change but have not heard back, you will be contacted before the beginning of school. Please be patient.

At this point the only changes that will be made to schedules are for educational reasons or if a mistake has been made on our part. Educational reasons include changing a level of class to a more challenging class or a change in your course selection based on a career decision.

If you did not receive a schedule, please contact the counseling office at (717) 872-9520, ext. 1820.

Senior Parking sign-ups

Seniors who wish to sign-up for parking can do so on August 12 (1-3 PM) or August 20 (9-11 AM) in the Central Complex.  Please bring the following items with you:

  • Driver’s license
  • Current registration/owner’s card
  • Current insurance card
  • Cash or check for $20.00 payable to Penn Manor School District
  • a signed drug screening consent form will also be needed.  Seniors can pick up the drug screening consent form during parking sign-up.  This form, which must be signed by both student and parent, must be returned to the HS office by the first day of school or the student may not park on the property.  If your name is already in the drug screen pool from 2009-2010, you need not submit a new form.
