2020 Homecoming Information

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and state restrictions on gatherings, Homecoming Week will look different this year at Penn Manor High School.

During the week of October 12,  we will hold a Spirit Week led by members of the 2020 homecoming court as well as other members of the Penn Manor community.  The homecoming football game against McCaskey will be held on Friday, October 16. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold a homecoming pep rally or the homecoming dance due to capacity restrictions.

We still plan to hold a crowning ceremony for the Homecoming Queen.  The event will be live-streamed over the internet, and participants will be given tickets for their families to attend.  Additional details on how the court will be recognized and continue the tradition of raising funds for important causes in our community will be coming soon.

The 2020 Homecoming Court members are Brooke Hinkle, Madyson Hodges, Naisha Lamour, Taylor LoCurto, Jasmine Miller, Olivia Nicastro, Anaisha Torres, Alexia Wedge and Amanda Wolf.

PSAT Testing for Juniors

Each year the Penn Manor School District provides all 11th grade students with the opportunity to complete the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) free of charge during the school day.  This year, students will need to sign up in order to take the PSAT. It will be administered during the school day on Wednesday, October 14 (Group A) and Thursday, October 29 (Group B and virtual students).

Students’ PSAT scores will not count towards college admission applications, but the process does provide an incredible learning experience for students to practice for the SAT as they begin the college admission journey.  Additionally, the PSAT is used for National Merit Scholarships and can potentially help students earn scholarship money.
PSAT scores can also be used to apply for dual enrollment opportunities.

Students in 11th grade who wish to register for the PSAT should complete the Google Form sent to their school email by October 5th . If you have any questions about whether or not your student should take this exam, please feel free to reach out to your students’ School Counselor.

Penn Manor reports two COVID-19 positive cases at high school

Penn Manor School District has become aware of two members of our school community who have tested positive for COVID-19. Below is a message from Superintendent Mike Leichliter with more information:

September 27, 2020

Dear Penn Manor Family:

We have recently learned that two members of the Penn Manor High School community have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals will not be in school until they have recovered, and all individuals considered to have had close contact with these individuals in the school setting have been notified.

We are not closing the high school at this time.

As a result of the positive cases, Penn Manor has taken the following actions:

  • Contacted the PA Department of Health for further guidance
  • Cleaned and disinfected locations visited by the individuals who tested positive
  • Identified individuals who had close contact with the infected individuals and communicated directly with them on their next steps, which could include a 14-day quarantine.

Please note that personal information about the COVID-positive individuals, including their names, is confidential to protect patient privacy. We are sending our best wishes to these members of our school community.

As a reminder, please keep your child home from school if he/she is feeling ill for any reason. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are cough, fever, loss of taste and shortness of breath. Muscle aches, sore throat and fatigue also are common. If your child exhibits any of these symptoms, please consult with your family medical provider immediately.

Please continue to practice social distancing, wash hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces and wear a mask in public, including in school.

We face this challenging situation together, and we are grateful for your continued support of our school district.

For additional information about COVID-19, please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Health website at: https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx or Penn Manor’s COVID-19/Reopening Updates page at: https://www.pennmanor.net/covid19/

Sincerely,

Michael G. Leichliter, Ed.D

Senior Portraits

Attention seniors who have NOT had their portraits taken or need retakes:

The makeup days for the class of 2021 senior pictures is fast approaching.  Make-ups will be held at Penn Manor High School   on September 25, September 28, September 29, and October 1.

These dates include two “A” days and 2 “B” days. Please schedule your appointment for the day your child attends school. CTC and Virtual students can choose from any of the 4 dates above that fit their schedule.

Prestige has indicated that all appointment cards have been mailed to the student’s home address. If you have not received it by Monday the 21st or Tuesday 22nd call Prestige at 410-644-7700.

Information from Prestige Portraits:

Please note, we have adopted a new scheduling process to help with social distancing and crowd control, per CDC protocol.  The students are asked to log onto the PrestigePortraits.com website to “self-schedule” their appointment.  The appointment cards have a date range listed when we will be at the school.  The student then uses their unique ID number to log onto PrestigePortraits.com to select a date/time convenient for them.  To help with the “No-Touch” policy, students/parents are asked to pay the sitting fee online when making their appointment, as no monetary exchanges will take place at the school/location site.
