Parents’ Night-Thursday, September 16, 2010-6:45 PM
Thursday, September 16 is our Fall Parents’ Night at the high school. Parents’ Night will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium. You are encouraged to attend this program, which will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers. Your son or daughter was asked to complete and bring home the schedule below to assist you in finding classrooms and teachers. Please bring this with you to Parents’ Night. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2010. If you should have any questions, please contact the high school office at 872-9520, ext. 1809.

Board Vacancy Posting
The Board of School Directors of the Penn Manor School District is seeking applicants for a Board of School Director vacancy. The term expires the first week of December, 2011. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and references to Mrs. Paula Howard, Board Secretary, P.O. Box 1001, Millersville, Pennsylvania, 17551. Applications must be received prior to 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 17 , 2010. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Appointment will be made at the October 4, 2010 meeting of the Penn Manor Board of School.
2010 Club Selection
Penn Manor High School offers a variety of clubs for our students. Each year, we have many students from all grade levels participate in one, and sometimes multiple, clubs. Our clubs meet during the school day each week on one of the homeroom days. Students may sign up for a club during the month of September. If a student would like to sign up for a club after September, he/she can stop by the Main Office for more information.
Our goals for sponsoring clubs at the high school are:
- Offer students co-curricular opportunities to explore their strengths and interests
- Allow students an option to positively contribute to the school and community
- Help foster and develop leadership and soft skills with students

Last chance for Senior portraits for 2011
2011 seniors that did not get their pictures taken for the yearbook in May still have one last opportunity. Photos will be taken at the high school again on September 22nd and 23rd. Please call Herff Jones at 1-800-687-9327 to schedule a sitting. This is the only way to get your senior picture in the 2011 Trumpeter Yearbook.
The 2010-2011 school year has begun!
Picture forms for underclassmen were distributed today. Picture day is September 24, 2010.
All students attended a class meeting today. Students were challenged to take advantage of the courses offered at the high school and to the services available through the counseling department. There was a review of the cell phone and electronic devices policy, as well as a review of the dress code which is stated on page 17 of the student handbook. The administrative team communicated the expectations that are held for all students. It is our desire to create a professional environment that mirrors the dress of most places of employment and is free of distractions. Many pictures of unacceptable clothing was presented though a slide that is available (Class Meetings Aug 2010). Finally, students were reminded of the importance of regular attendance and the consequences that follow the state guidelines for mandatory school attendance.
